All About Our Organisation:  

Bundaberg Community Development Inc. has been in existence since 1971, first as the Bundaberg Regional Council for Social Development, then the Bundaberg Community Council.  The change of name to Bundaberg Community Development Inc occurred in July 2000.  The group was set up to coordinate the work of welfare groups in Bundaberg and to promote progress in areas of need.   We are a not-for-profit organisation and are funded by Department of Communities and Bundaberg Regional Council.

The objectives of Bundaberg Community Development Inc are:

  • To act as a coordinating body between organisations in the field of Community Development by supporting and developing a coordinated and collaborative response to local community needs and issues.
     
  • To promote and assist the development of all aspects of Community Development.
     
  • To assist in the development of an informed public opinion on matters related to Community Development.
     
  • To provide an advisory service on matters of Community Development by the employment of suitably qualified staff.
     
  • To work co-operatively and collaboratively with Local Authorities in the promotion of Community Development.
     
  • To co-operate with the appropriate committees concerned with co-ordination of Community Development in Queensland.

The areas covered by Bundaberg Community Development Office include the  Bundaberg City Council and Burnett Shire, also incorporating Kolan and Isis Shires in district-wide initiatives.

The Bundaberg Community Development Office offers the following services:

  • Acts as a central resource for information on various services including welfare organisations, government departments, community information, support groups, health services, service clubs, arts, sport and recreational groups. 
     
  • Coordinates and assists with activities of  local community groups according to areas of identified need. 
     
  • Assistance in acquisition of funding and resources to meet the needs of the Bundaberg District.
     
  • Promotes community awareness of existing and needed services and promotes community support and cooperation in providing such services. 
     
  • Bundaberg Community Development Inc produces a yearly Community Directory which consists of more than 850 non-profit community organisations from a range of classifications. 
     
  • The Community Development Office provides a network between support groups, community groups, local Council and Government agencies. 
     
  • Our service is available to any individual, group of  people or organisation that require support and assistance in addressing issues of concern relating to the Community.
     
  • Membership is available to Bundaberg Community Development Inc.  Single membership is $5.00 per annum and organisational membership is $15 per annum.  Membership entitles you vote at the Annual General Meeting.

  • Our monthly newsletter 'Dis Biz' keeps you updated on what's happening in the Community and includes a calendar of monthly community meetings.
