Youth Interest Groups

The Bundaberg Regional Council now has two of its planned four Youth Interest Groups now operating.

Young people in both Gin Gin and Bundaberg are well on there way to being a voice for young people in their communities.

Youth Interest Groups are open to young people 15-23 years, with groups set to be located covering each of the following areas: Bundaberg, Gin Gin, Childers and the Bargara coastal townships of our region.

These groups will give young people the opportunity to be a voice for young people and provide input into the decision making processes of Bundaberg Regional Council and other bodies. They can also initiate and coordinate youth related activities and events, as well as act as youth ambassadors to businesses and the wider community.

To find out how you can get involved in a Youth Interest Group or to get more information about youth in our community  contact Councils Youth Development Officer on 1300 883 699 or check out our webpage on www.bundaberg.qld.gov.au/residents/youth

BUNDABERG COMMUNITY GARDEN
The community garden is a place where people come together to grow vegetables, fruit, and herbs. Community garden members are able to grow and harvest their own food with the support of other gardeners.

The community gardens also provide opportunities to educate people on healthy eating, sustainable environments and physical activity as well as provide a place for art projects and community activities.

MODERN CLUB MANAGEMENT

In this ever-changing environment, community organisations are constantly required to deliver higher level of outcomes, which on the surface appear daunting to the volunteer committee and board members.

Ensure success:  With the new financial pressures of public liability, organisations need to continually improve the management of legal responsibilities, service delivery and the decision making process to ensure the longevity of their organisation.

In the past, volunteers have been the backbone of an organisation and their success and failings can be directly attributed to their performance.

Bundaberg Regional Council in conjunction with Roofayel Sports Consultancy recognises that community organisations need help to meet these mounting expectations and these unprecedented pressures.

Manuals & templates:  As such Bundaberg Regional Council have set about developing manuals with supporting templates and samples that will systematically take your organisation through the steps that will improve governance, committee development and the volunteer management process and reduce your organisation’s exposure to risk.

The authors have designed the documents along side the templates and supporting documentation as a GUIDE ONLY to help community organisations avoid reinventing the wheel, as well as to help them manage their most valuable resource: Volunteers.

Users are required to adapt and modify the tools and information provided to met their own specific needs.
