96.3 FM Community Radio
We were granted our first temporary community radio license for this region in 2002. We have a temporary license and this is renewed in March each year. We broadcast a radio service to our community 24 hours per day. 12 hours of live presentation by local presenters - this will soon be extended to 24 hours when we receive our satellite. We do not share our frequency with any other organisation. Bundaberg Community Radio (trading as 96.3 FM) is a non profit organization and totally relies on volunteers to operate and manage the station. Membership is open to all people in our community. Members come from a wide variety of nationalities and range in age from 14 to 80. They travel from all parts of the district to train and present a selection of music from all walks of life. We have an ABN number and are registered for GST. Our studio is located at Unit 8, Bundaberg Enterprise Centre, Cnr Quay and Tantitha Streets, Bundaberg. Our transmitter is located at The Hummock. We assist non-profit organizations in our community by broadcasting regular notices and announcements of upcoming events, fund raising activities, meetings, training and awareness programs, and conduct interviews with many of these organizations. We also broadcast community service announcements under arrangements with the following: Queensland Police; Queensland Transport; Queensland Health and Cancer Fund; Blind Dog Association; RSPCA; St Vincent De Paul; Queensland Ambulance and Queensland Fire Service. We promote and participate in many community functions, festivals, fetes, fairs, etc. to promote our activities and services. We receive grants assistance for the acquisition of major capital assets, but rely on our fundraising and sponsorships to cover running costs of our growing station.
