Breastscreen Queensland Wide Bay Service
The service provides a high quality, complete breast cancer screening and assessment service free of charge for women over 40 years of age including information about breast cancer and breast screening; free breast cancer screening; follow up of abnormalities found on the breastscreen; counselling; referral treatment if breast cancer is detected and an invitation for rescreening every two years. A doctor's referral is not necessary. Women aged 50-69 are especially encouraged to attend every two years as the biggest risk factor for breast cancer is age with 70% of all breast cancer diagnosed in women over the age of 50. Parking is available and this service is located next door to the Red Cross Blood Service, access via Queens Park Road. TTY and interpreter services are available for women with special needs. A satellite service is available at Hervey Bay and rural areas are serviced every two years by the Breastscreen Queensland Wide Bay Service mobile Service.

Community Family Health
The health and well being of children and families in the Wide Bay District. Community Family Health Nursing and Allied Health Professionals provide education and support for parents. Within group sessions, growth and development and relevant parenting information are included in discussion. Community Family Health is actively involved in Health Promotion and is willing to provide information on any issue relating to the health of children and adolescents (up to 18).
Operating Times: Child Health Individual consultations: Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning and Wednesday afternoon by appointment only. HeartStart
HEARTStart is a health promotion, chronic disease prevention and cardiac recovery program to help people toward a healthier life. Services include (1) health information/education on heart health, blood pressure, cholesterol, exercise, reducing risk factors for chronic disease, healthy eating, food and nutrition; (2) HEARTStart education series and (3) Track walking, advanced walking and fitness training exercise sessions. HEARTStart health education sessions are held during mid-year months. Information is available from HEARTStart. Track walking sessions based on exercise physiology principles are conducted Monday's, Wednesday's and Friday's at our walking track in Thornhill Street, North Bundaberg. Newborn and Family Drop-In Service
Newborn and Family Drop-in Service Free Queensland Health community based service that supports early parenting, offering a range of services that specifically target the first eight weeks of an infant’s life. These services include; infant weights and developmental checks, information and support about parenting, infant feeding, infant sleep and settling, postnatal depression and supportive services. Small group parenting information sessions provide an opportunity for parents to socialise and meet with other parents. Plenty of parking including disabled enables easy access to this service. Parents can just drop-in to this ‘Well Baby’ service, and talk to a midwife or child health nurse. No appointment required!

School Based Youth Health Program - Community Family Health
High Schools are provided with a School Based Youth Health Nurse (SBYHN). The youth health nurse provides confidential health consultations for students, parents, school staff, community members, and refer clients to other health and welfare professionals as appropriate; supports the school’s health and physical education program development; supports planning and implementation of health promotion strategies; facilitates community development; supports students and staff on a range of health issues relevant to young people, including facilitating teacher in-service health programs; provides advice and information about health education resources including relevant Queensland Health programs.
