A New Chapter: Opening the Doors to Supported Independent Living
BCD celebrated a significant milestone this month with the grand opening of our Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes in Oran Park. These homes are so much more than bricks and mortar they represent safety, comfort, dignity, and a real sense of belonging for the people we support.
They are a place to call home, where individuals can live with the independence they deserve, while receiving the personalised care they need. For our customers, these homes offer the chance to live with dignity in a space they can call their own, surrounded by care, community, and connection.
“It’s such a proud and emotional moment for all of us at BCD. From one nurse with a dream over 22 years ago to now opening our own Supported Independent Living homes in Oran Park, this milestone means the world to us. These homes are more than just a roof over someone’s head they’re about belonging, independence, and creating a place where people feel safe, valued, and at home. I’m so grateful to our incredible team and everyone who has been part of this journey. Thank you for believing in what we do and for helping us build something truly special.”
After years of planning, persistence and purpose, BCD’s dream of creating Supported Living Homes became a reality last week and in doing so has opened a new chapter for the local community they’ve championed for over two decades. With each person walking through the homes, the atmosphere was one of celebration and excitement marking the start of something new.
Offering an inspiring space to truly create a sense of ‘home’ and connection within the local community where residents can live independently and are fully supported around the clock with access to a support and clinical nursing team to help achieve their goals.
Every aspect of the two state of the art homes has been designed with accessibility, safety and comfort at the top of the list.
Creating a nurturing and inspiring space that is tailored to each person who calls it home.
Each of the two freestanding homes is wheelchair accessible. Set within quiet, leafy surrounds both homes include:
4 spacious bedrooms, 2 modern bathrooms, inviting open living, dining and kitchen areas.
Peaceful, light filled homes tucked away in a leafy setting. Each home has it’s own backyard with lush green lawns.
Located in Oran Park, in Sydney's south west, a vibrant community celebrated for it’s family friendly environment, well-designed spaces, and extensive green areas. Oran Park offers parks, playgrounds, walking paths, cycling tracks, and a town centre with diverse amenities. The community also includes a new leisure centre featuring a pool, gym, and sports courts.
The opening of two brand new wheelchair accessible Supported Independent Living homes mark a significant milestone for BCD and have been part of BCD’s vision for over twenty years.
With the launch of the accommodation homes, BCD are investing not just in bricks and mortar, but in the future of the local community in Camden where up to 4.6% of residents are living with a disability and need help with day to day tasks.
This is why Supported Independent Living (SIL) matters. SIL is more than a roof over someone’s head, it’s how people living with a disability can live with dignity and independence, stay close to their communities, make their own choices, and have a greater sense of belonging.
These homes represent safety, belonging, and opportunity and are filled with the spirit of everything BCD stands for.
BCD has a rich history that began over 22 years ago with just one nurse and a powerful vision to provide quality care that puts people first. Since then, we’ve grown into a registered and accredited NDIS and Aged Care provider, known for our strong values and our unwavering commitment to supporting local communities. Every step of the way, we have listened and learned from the people we support. Our approach is and always has been customer-led, grounded in person-centred practice, and shaped by the real needs of our community.
For the staff who have been on this journey from day one, the opening of the homes has been both humbling and exhilarating, it is the culmination of years of effort, community support and an unwavering commitment to supporting locals.
Fast forward to today, BCD is proud to have delivered over 70,000 hours of care this year. Our support is now a key part of local communities, supporting customers in Macarthur, Camden, Campbelltown, Wollondilly, Fairfield, Liverpool, Wingecarribee through to Marulan, and Goulburn.
A Thank You to Our Community
None of this would be possible without the incredible support of our BCD team, BCD Board and community partners, our customers, the families who trusted us, and the community who continues to support us,
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who played a role in this achievement and to those who joined us in celebrating the opening, thank you for being part of such a special day. This is more than a milestone, it’s a reminder of what’s possible when care is built on connection, compassion, and community.
