Our Year of Impact: 2025 Annual Highlights

Reading time: 2 mins

At BCD, our vision of locals supporting locals is at the heart of everything we do. We believe in enabling people living with a disability and older people to make informed choices about the care they receive, ensuring they can access the right support when and where they need it most throughout their unique disability and ageing journey.

With over 20 years of experience as a trusted, registered Disability and Home Care provider, we proudly serve diverse local communities in Macarthur, Camden, Campbelltown, Wollondilly, Fairfield, Liverpool, Wingecarribee, Shoalhaven, Marulan and Goulburn.

A word from the CEO

"The past year has been one of stabilisation for BCD in the face of significant industry challenges. Across the disability and aged care sectors, providers continue to navigate rising costs, regulatory changes, and increasing complexity in customer needs. Despite this, BCD has remained steady, focussed and true to our purpose. I am proud of the way our team has worked together to provide safe, quality, and kind care to the people and communities we support."
- Heather Hollingworth, CEO

2025 Milestones & Highlights

  • Investment in two new Supported Living Homes

This year, we hit a huge milestone, we bought two new homes in Oran Park. It's the first time in almost 25 years that BCD has invested in property, in purpose-built spaces to help achieve Supported Independent Living goals. These homes will stand as a legacy of security, choice, and independence for the people who live in them.

  • Roll-out of our Disability Inclusion Plan and Technology Support Planning

This year we continued to engage with our Customer Committee, ensuring the voices of our customers and their carers are central to how we operate. Their feedback has shaped improvements in our services with the roll-out of our Disability Inclusion Plan and Technology Support Planning. This group has helped us stay accountable to what matters most: delivering supports that make a real difference in people's lives.

  • Leadership in service delivery - 98% customer retention, 95% staff retention

Nationally, our service delivery models are being recognised as innovative and customer-led. To have our work acknowledged on a national stage is both humbling and energising.

As a registered provider of both the NDIS and Aged Care programs, BCD is committed to the highest standards of quality and compliance. This year we successfully completed our re-registration process, with auditors commending us with two best practice recommendations for our people and HR practices and another for our information management systems. These commendations reinforce that our governance, systems, and culture not only meet requirements but are seen as examples of sector-leading practice.

One of the clearest signs of success in service delivery is the positive, high retention of both customers and staff. In an industry where turnover is high, our stability speaks volumes.

Customers are choosing us because of the quality and kindness of our care. Staff retention of over 95% demonstrates people remain with us because they feel valued, supported, and connected to the purpose of their work.

Stories of impact

John's Story of Courage, Love and New Beginnings

In 2022, BCD joined John's journey. Living with an Acquired Brain Injury, John's goals reflected not just practical needs, but deep hopes to cook his own meals again, to return to meaningful work, and one day to drive independently, reclaiming the freedom he had lost.

The path was far from easy. Progress often came slowly, but each small win became a triumph. Every milestone gave John not just a little more independence, but also a renewed sense of pride, dignity and purpose.

And through it all, BCD's support extended to John and his wife and carer, Christine. Carer burnout is a real concern, and it's something we take very seriously.

Fast forward to 2025, and John's incredible progress now means he no longer needs daily support from BCD care workers.

Today, he works as a handyman at a local school, finding purpose and belonging in his community. For John, getting the all-clear from his brain injury rehab specialist was more than just medical approval, it was the final seal on a long emotional journey of recovery.

Our services remain on standby ready to step in whenever support is needed. This is not an ending, but a new chapter, independence achieved with the reassurance that they are never alone.

""I feel it's worth mentioning that John has achieved his license and has been driving without fault for almost 3 months now, I hope our story will gives others hope and cement confidence in the management and fantastic team that is BCD. I am incredibly grateful that BCD was recommended to us. We can't thank BCD and especially Olivia enough for all our excellent support. It's been a long but successful journey."
- Christine
