The Year That Was 2025
Supporting goals and celebrating milestones, big and small
As 2025 comes to a close, we have been reflecting on the year that was across our aged care and disability support services.
Recently, we shared our formal Annual Report. Today, we wanted to do something a little different and look back at the moments, milestones and everyday achievements that have shaped the past twelve months for our customers, their families, our staff and community partners.
At the heart of it all is a simple focus supporting people towards their goals and celebrating milestones, big and small.
Putting people first, every day
This year, our teams provided 134,856 hours of care and support across our services. Behind each hour is a real person, a real family and a real story.
We supported customers in their homes and communities, helped people build confidence with daily living tasks, and walked alongside them as they tried new activities, reconnected with community and worked towards the goals that matter most to them.
It is a privilege to support you towards your goals and celebrate milestones, big and small. Your resilience, humour and kindness continue to inspire us every day.
A major milestone: our first Supported Independent Living homes
One of the biggest highlights of 2025 was the opening of our first Supported Independent Living (SIL) homes in Oran Park.
This is the first time in 25 years that our BCD has invested purpose-built spaces to help achieve Supported Independent Living goals. These homes will stand as a legacy of security, choice, and independence for the people who live in them.
This year we proudly opened 5 SIL homes in total, designed to support people to live more independently, build skills, make choices about their daily routines and enjoy being part of their local community. Already, we are seeing customers settle in, form new friendships and gain confidence in their own space.
We are incredibly proud of this milestone and grateful to everyone who helped bring these homes to life, from customers and families who shared their insights, to staff, builders and community partners.
Care when it is needed most
Alongside our daily support, we also continued to provide more specialised services:
1,415 hours of clinical nursing services, supporting customers with more complex health needs.
2,255 customer accommodation experiences across our supported accommodation options, giving people safe, comfortable places to stay when they needed it.
A stable, committed team
High quality support starts with a strong, consistent team. In 2025 we are proud to have:
95% staff retention,
98% customer retention.
For our customers and families, this means familiar faces, trusted relationships and less disruption to daily life.
For our staff, it reflects a culture where people feel supported, valued and able to build meaningful, long term careers in aged care and disability support.
Behind every visit, phone call and shift is a person who cares – Senior Care Workers, Care Circles, our Nursing team and many others working together to make sure services run smoothly.
Learning, growing and improving
To keep delivering safe, high quality support, our teams continued to build their skills and knowledge throughout the year.
In 2025, staff completed 719 online learning courses, covering everything from clinical updates and best practice support, to communication, safety and person centred care.
Ongoing training helps ensure we are meeting regulatory standards and, just as importantly, responding to the real life needs and preferences of the people we support.
We have also continued to listen closely to feedback from customers, families and partners - what is working well, where we can improve, and how we can make it easier to connect with us. Your feedback guides our improvements and we are grateful to everyone who has shared their thoughts with us this year.
Looking ahead to 2026
As we look towards 2026, our focus remains clear:
Learning, growing, and shaping the future of BCD by co-designing with our Customer Committee and Community
Supporting people to live the lives they choose.
Strengthening our Supported Independent Living and accommodation options.
Continuing to invest in our staff, quality systems and communication.
Building strong partnerships with families, health professionals and community organisations.
We know the sector continues to change, and we are committed to adapting with care, transparency and a person centred approach.
Thank you!
💜 Finally, we want to say a heartfelt thank you.
