Over 22 Years Of Care: What We've Learned About What Makes Great Support

When you're choosing an NDIS or aged care provider, it's easy to get lost in brochures, promises, and big words.

But quality support is usually more simple - it's built on consistency, trust, and the kind of experience that comes from showing up, year after year, for real people with real lives.

For more than 22 years, BCD has been invited into people's homes and lives during some of the most important seasons - times of change, recovery, ageing, or building independence. That experience teaches you what truly matters, consistency, trust, and knowing you're not doing it alone.

We're a registered NDIS provider and Aged Care provider, accredited by the Aged Care Quality & Safety Commission, and the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.

The audits undertaken show that BCD have met the requirements for both the NDIS Practice Standards and the Aged Care Quality Standards. Best practices were demonstrated in our human resource and information management systems and through the positive workplace culture that we foster.

But our approach has also been shaped by something just as meaningful, listening carefully to customers and their carers and families, and improving how we support people over time.

That's how our Senior Care Worker model was built - a person-centred approach designed to surround every client with a village and keep your goals, needs, and preferences at the centre.

Across 22 years, we've learned a lot. Here are 12 lessons we come back to again and again, because they're the ones that make the biggest difference in day to day support.

1) 💜 Dignity isn't optional

People should feel respected in every interaction.

2) 👂 Listening changes everything.

Good support starts with listening to what matters to you, what your goals and preferences are, and what a good day looks like for you.

3) 🤝 Reliability builds trust.

It's the basics done consistently - turning up when we say we will, doing what we promised, and following through.

4) 🗓️ Plans change and that's okay

When life shifts, we adjust with you and coordinating with your Care Circle team so care keeps working in the real world.

5) ✅ The right match makes a real difference.

When you feel comfortable with the team supporting you, who understand your story and your goals, it makes a real difference.

6) Better outcomes come from working together.

With our customer led approach to disability and aged care, we ensure that our customers, along with their carers and families, have the freedom to choose and co-design the care they desire.

7) 🎉 Celebrate the wins

A steadier step, a calmer morning, a new goal achieved, progress whether big or small always deserves a cheer.

8) 🫶Trust is earned in the everyday moments.

22 years teaches you this - it's in the daily actions and not ticking off checklists, that builds a relationship.

9) 🧑🏾‍🤝‍🧑🏻 Partnering with families and carers is key

We partner with and make space for their insights and wellbeing.

10) 🏘️ It takes a village of care to help you achieve your goals

Our Senior Care Worker model puts you at the centre, and surrounds you with the support that comes from a dedicated Care Circle, Senior Care Worker and when it's needed, clinical care.

11) ☕ Care is in the little things

A cup of tea, a shared joke, making your favourite sandwich or simply being there so you're not alone. Care is more than chores, health checks and activities.

12) ) 🤲 Understanding doesn't always need words

We've learned that you don't need to share the same language to share understanding. With time, consistency, and a bit of creativity, our team can adapt the way we communicate.
